Hey Pedro, I was just googling myself and found this blog: http://liberatechildren.blogspot.com/2009/08/stop-making-t-don-hutto-residential.html
where you mention trying to contact me on June 3. As you may have realized by now, I am no longer w/ the Current, my last day was May 27. Elaine Wolff and I were at odds and San Antone and I just aren't right for each other. So, I am moving to Austin next week... but if you think there's still a story here - or anywhere else -  that I might be able to pitch to say the Austin Chronicle, than you can contact me here...

Cesar Chavez Foundation owes $70,000 ?

Amy Kastely, the lead attorney for the Free Speech Coalition said that Jaime Martinez with his famous status with City Hall has his fees waived. T.C. Calvert said that San Anto govt. is controlling the free-speech platform, and giving a free ride to Jaime's annual Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice. Jaime Martinez owes San Anto Govt. $70,000 for the Immigrant Rights March on April 10, 2006, the one I described the arrests of certain people and lacking security. Poor Jaime Martinez should have done his homework, and he thought he was only paying $250 for reserving Zacate Park and putting La Luz on. (Source:S.A.Current Jan. 16-22, 2008) Should Raza pay for march permits? Go to http://www.sacurrent.com to give your opinion dewelada!
Imagine the LULAC National Treasurer cashing big checks from Corporate Corrections of America and now owing the city of San Antonio $70,000 for failing to be an organizer and not doing his homework. Jaime Martinez sure likes to be in the infamous Chicano spotlight next to Tony Mandujano who sends porn to people's homes. To sign the petition to erase the ordinance, please go to http://www.esperanzacenter.org/freespeech.htm [ Judge Rodriguez plans to make a decision before Feb. 8th, so hurry up vatos y vatas]
Even though Jaime Martinez is getting a free ride because he compromised for Cesar Chavez Memorial Way, the city pays for the annual Cesar E. Chavez March for Justice as a token of good faith. Now that Jaime Martinez owes $700,000 pesos de Mexico to "el mal gobierno", I will have to get out my little lemonade stand and start fund-raising to help Jaime Martinez pay the City of San Anto. If we help Jaime with a lemonade stand everywhere, we will bring back Jaime's good Image once again as soon as we help pay his debt. When we see him as King Jaime during the annual Cesar E. Chavez March, lets give him a dollar each and pretend it's his Birthday and tell him to go buy some quality time with the city. Operation Watcha-Watcha Cuckaracha: Lets Help Jaime Martinez get $700,000 pesos! We can do it! The Jaime Teleton! Visa! MASTERcard! Foodstamps! Lonestar! All accepted. Send all paypal payments to iueorg@aol.com. Please no CCA funds! Thanks.

Marching in Unity & Peace through S.A.

I am still in awe over the book that I'm reading about Cesar E. Chavez, in which he called La Migra. That's like Tony Mandujano asking me for advice in which he should call INS on the Peruvian family member of his who is harrassing Tony Mandujano for repayment of his loan. I told Tony Mandujano that it would be a bad idea and told him a scenario in which it could be my mother that he calls La Migra. In dealing with an old issue that the UFW and Cesar E. Chavez called La Migra on the strikebreakers, it's rising on the internet due to Immigration protests nationwide since 2006. I don't believe that Cesar E. Chavez would help out in any way if he were alive to Comprehensive Immigration Reform but probably join Dolores Huerta and other leaders to get Hillary Clinton elected instead. Cesar E. Chavez is still my hero just as Jaime Martinez is to others. I will not buy into the fact that Cesar E. Chavez is anti-immigrant but only dealing with immigrant strikebreakers. He did call La Migra.
In my opinion, like Elvira Arrellano wearing this T-shirt saying "Who Would Jesus Deport?" is ludicrous to think "Who Would Cesar E. Chavez Deport?" Cesar E. Chavez used this tactic (calling La Migra on the strikebreakers) as a last alternative, but used it nevertheless. In times like these, many undocumented do labor jobs that are not part of Unions. Last month in Los Angeles, CA, the AFL-CIO is trying to organize Los Car-washeros. Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner refuses to have his cadillac washed by Los Car-washeros and uses tokens to wash his car. Why have we not heard during these times a proposal by the UFW in dealing with the undocumented when working in the fields. A 5 year guest worker program is currently being proposed by Nancy Pelosi. Are we talking about the Bracero Program all over again & no union contracts for cheaper labor from other countries as guest workers? Sounds too good to be true? In opposite to Pelosi's plan, the SAVE Act would e-verify every employee federally.
Major co-sponsors of the SAVE Act are democrats like the Honorable Ciro Rodriguez of the Congressional District 23. The SAVE Act calls for 8,000 more border patrol agents (La Migra) and recently have been armed with 1,000 belgium paintball rifles to combat rock throwers along the Mexican border. These painball guns could make someone lose an eye, or injure them in some way. They shoot out projectiles like pepper spray pellets and used against those who are throwing rocks at the border patrol agents in the Yuma, Tuscon, and San Diego sector. The LAPD just had a training session at Dodger Stadium in dealing with rowdies for May 1st demonstrations in Los Angeles. More than 250 people were hurt last year during May 1st in Los Angeles. Could they be using these new tools like border patrol agents against the demonstrators? Sources: KNBC.COM, LAPD Preparing for Heated Immigration Demonstration; KTAR.COM, Border Patrol Agents can fire paintballs at rock throwers.
Today, on Channel 41, members of a coalition for May 1st in San Anto said that the march will start at 5pm at Milam Park. On Friday, a writer for the San Antonio Express-News at www.MySA.com said that the march will start at Milam Park, march to the Alamo, then back to another rally at the renovated Main Plaza. Co-founder of the Cesar Chavez March Antonio Diaz said "pushing supportive candidates into political office would have a greater impact." The title of this article is: Immigration march, rally lose momentum by Hernan Rozemberg, email hrozemberg@express-news.net
Even though this march may be smaller like the media explains, I will never forget in 2006 how LULAC members like Hector Flores and Henry Rodriguez suppressed the youth movement by telling them to stay in school and not walk-out. It was heartbreaking to learn that LULAC leaders were not in full support of the youth movement, and that they were considered naive in politics and immigrant rights. I plan to be there at Milam Park this Thursday and hopefully you can join me and my family for another May 1st demonstration as we march peacefully through San Anto. I'm looking forward to hearing speakers, networking, sharing information, reading flyers, and helping those in need of JUSTICE. I may be a single person involved in many issues altogether, but it is connected to Mother Earth, as we are the children of the corn reclaiming Aztlan and fighting for those who can't fight for themselves. I am not as powerful as Jaime Martinez but my background in education makes up for that. ¡Sí Se Puede!

Working in Unity to Free the Children

When you see a baby crib inside the T. Don Hutto Residential Center, it is inside a small room, and before, there was no privacy. Now, instead of closing the T. Don Hutto Residential Center, the prison administration has made adjustments and changes physically due to demands to close Hutto. I know that I want a tour today of the facility so that I can write my opinion and maybe spend like a week inside to see how the immigrants are treated. I want to be able to not have privacy, eat what they eat, and write a journal into what I see everyday. To be contained in the T. Don Hutto Residential Center, I would have to ask permission by the prison administration. I noticed that they had a mailbox outside, and maybe I will write to them to see if they would let me stay inside for a week. Maybe I'm crazy, but how else are we to find out what we're protesting inside. Interviewing as many people and creating a Report! A report to question homeland security's procedures.
When September Eleven happened, a report was made into the investigation of the events that led to that tragic day. The 9-11 Commission Report was made and the Department of Homeland Security was created. The Patriot Act took away our privacy and monitored everyone. We would rather fear terrorism and put innocent children in prisons for the cost of War. As long as the War is against Al-queda in Iraq, America will continue with its ICE raids, separation of families, and Guantanamo Bay prisons. A terrible rumor I heard this week is that Blackwater will be taking over security forces along the U.S.A./ Mexico border. Someone tell me it was just a rumor! Blackwater has a reputation in Iraq and soon the U.S. Border Patrol will be obsolete. Tell me it isn't true and just a rumor. We must end the War in Iraq and bring peace to the world if we are to ever free the children. Peace and War, such opposites, but feed on each other to find the balance that we try to live in harmony.
I created this poster on May 24th 2008 at the T. Don Hutto Residential Center. It was one of my signs I carried at the demonstration that hot spring day. I hope many more signs will be made to combat homeland security's ICE and CCA. I hope that National LULAC will join me in solidarity to protest CCA and give back all the money to them. National Lulac Plan of Action to help liberate the Children by bringing a proposal at the Lulac National Convention and having a vote to have a nationwide protest at the T. Don Hutto Residential Center. Imagine that, an enormous protest by Lulac to fight CCA, and hand delivering their money back to them. A dream come true that only Jaime Martinez and Rosa Rosales can make it happen if they wanted to, since San Anto has a high number of Lulac members, and Austin, Houston, Corpus Christi, Arlington, Dallas, Ft. Worth. Imagine Texas strong, and finally leading the campaign against CCA and fighting for human rights. What is holding back National Lulac?
These activists who marched from Heritage Park to the T. Don Hutto Residential Center on May 24th 2008 came from all over Texas. Many organizations participated as we awaited their arrival to the rally in front of the T. Don Hutto Residential Center. People from Taylor, Austin, San Anto, Houston, and Dallas showed up. I did notice the organizations present, Free the Children Coalition, M.E.Ch.A. de UT-Austin, Code Pink, Lulac Council #?, and many supporters like me and my family. I believe that whoever is organizing the demonstrations is doing a great job with public relations, the press, shade, bands, water and munchies. An awesome job to the organizers that day. I'm still writing about it after 4 days. Keep up the great work!
This student from UTSA said that when the minuteman Chris Simcox arrived last year to the UTSA campus, Simcox was not welcomed. This speaker on May 24th 2008 seemed very proud that the racist minutemen were heard by people such as him and others at UTSA. The speaker's platform was set on a trailer where bands played from a generator to run off electricity for the amplified sounds. Very Organized! Especially from across the street, and shaking the walls of the T. Don Hutto Residential Center as bands rocked and rapped. Sounds of Liberation echoed the town of Taylor, Texas, that day. I hear that when Lulac from San Anto organizes a day to protest at the T. Don Hutto Residential, they let it be known that they are the only organizers of their protests. They get a huge bus with lots of people and pride themselves with only their date, and reject all other dates to protest. Why stop there? Why not work in unity and learn from the grassroots movement? ¡Sí Se Puede! Tlazocamati- Ollin Q
