There's a lot of battles to fight Pedro...

And many of them at the same time.  One can only handle just so many battles.  I have done border walks and prison walks to the tune of some 825 miles.  I have another one coming up next month in El Paso.  I'm not lacking in things to be involved in.  I'm fighting desperately every day to stop a wall from being built here on the border.  But whether I've fighting against racial profiling in Arizona, death along the border, minutemen, Endgame, profit prisons...I will always talk about all of the issues at the same time.  They're all intertwined.  I don't need to go preach to the choir.  When I am invited by some organization or university to participate in a protest or conference, I lay it all out on the line.  I am opposed to greedy exploitation of our human family.  I am opposed to totalitarian and fascist tyranny.  I am opposed to racism...in whatever form...from whatever color to whatever color.  I do not support a political party.  I do not support one religion over another.  I do support coming together in unity and a shared purpose.

Like you, I have no authority.  As an individual I do spend about 12 hours a day in direct activism.  I am away from home in activist activities far more than at home.  I am engaged with others in a fight all the way to the Supreme Court...to stop the border wall that will be the cause for the loss of thousands of lives a year...let alone the destruction of our environment, culture, heritage and friendship.  I am fighting profit prisons all over the country...not only here in Texas.

I cannot go to all the important events now because of all of that.  But...in the end...while we think we're winning, we're loosing.  And while we think we're loosing...we're winning.  The key is to keep fighting the honorable fight, non-violently.  I save the anger, not for fellow activists...but for the racist supremacists.  I am about trying to treat all immigrants with kindness and dignity.  I still believe in "liberty and justice for all" and the "Golden Rule".  To do unto others as we would want them to do unto us...if the shoe were on the other foot.

I am being encouraged by a network of folks to formalize the network that we have put together.  We actually have two.  Border Ambassadors and Freedom Ambassadors.  I'm not much of an organization person.  That's quite obvious, but we have been effective as a loosely knit network...one that keeps wanting to grow...but with some organizational structure.

So, Pedro, what do you do in your real life?  Forgive me having to ask...but, have we met in person?

Jay, you say that you are more than willing to help but that nobody asks and that this is what you live for. Batman had a projected beacon of light pointed at the sky to call him for superhero time. Spiderman used his spider senses to help those in danger. Superman went back in time by making the world spin backwards to save his love because he was the almighty superhero who couldn't even save her while trying to save the world. Do you need an invitation or a batman signal beacon to go to a protest? Most protests that I hear about are by flyers, emails, friends, and word of mouth. I don't wait to be invited, I just go when I can. It's not mandatory to show up to every protest. I saw you as a superhero but many see you as an immigrant rights movement icon. To be a human being without any superhero powers does not need an invitation to a protest. I may not be superhuman nor am I Jaime Martinez who did not march with us on May 1st 2007 nor May 1st 2008 in San Ant o. I am with the people, without any authority, without any leaders to command me, and I take action on my own. I don't wait to be invited, I crash the party and make history. When Superman gave his powers away to be human, he saw that the world needed him and he had to do something to get his powers back. I will send you emails of upcoming marches, protests, or juntas. I am an average joe. You are a superhero Icon that needs his powers back to face injustices everywhere. Don't stop being a superhero but never forget that you are a human being.
