>             I will say a few things  about my origins as to explain my involvement with Remerbering Cesar E. Cavez. I was born in West Texas  my Mother  and family was returning from the North . El Norte or North was the direction that migrating field farmworkers headed. Supposedly I was born in a the work truck belonging to either my  Grandfather or to my uncle somewhere between El Paso  or SweetWater. My Grandfather always called me Pachuco, which is what most mejicanos used to call El Paso, so anyway somewhere between those to towns.I spent my childhood in the fields by my mother a single mom in a world dominated by male run families, she was love and determination mixed together. My Grandfather beleived in the organizing efforts of Cesar E. Chavez and how it would improve wages and treatment of migrant farmworkers. My Grandfather was a hard nosed "Indian", to put it mildly. he led us from farm to farm from state to state either
> preparing the fields for crop planting , cleaninig and cultivating so plants would grow , picking whatever crop  in many states.Growing up that way and hearing my Grandfather lecturing my uncles about the farmworkers struggles to improve wages ,treatment and living conditions and how a man from California, a poor man from the fields just like us was leading that struggle. Well , after being involved as an activist here in San Antonio  registering people to vote, advocating for social services in the poorer communities, retaining the infrastructure of older communities. Knowing of Cesar E. Chavez passing away and how badly we as a people need a positive role model i begin to work on the idea to create a March to recognize the work of Cesar. I had met Mr. Martinez during my activist protests. We went to Wsahington as the Coordinadora a  96. That was where agroup of us that were on a bus that went to Washington together decided to continue such an event
> as what we had participated in a March . Ther were three people that were brought up for there contributions, Emma Tenayuca, Dr. H.P Garcia,And Cesar E. Chavez. I brought up Cesar E. Chavez and needless to say my suggestion won out. we conducted our first brainstorming organizing meeting at the Central Library, without Mr Jaime Martinez. I was the one that said that it was not right to exclude Mr. Martinez being that he had met Ceasr E. Chavez on Union business when Cesar would come to San Antonio, Texas . Iand  Mr Tony Garza met with Mr. Martinez and proposed the idea of a commemoration event to honor Cesar. The proposal included a March , a banquet ,and scholarship drive. Mr. Martinez almost jumped for joy. This was the beginning we immediately had a falling out with Mr. Garza being that he wanted to control all the event. Mr. Martinez and I agreed that such an event should be inclusive. Through ups and downs we worked together . He by outreaching to
> influential people he had bonded with during his time as I.U.E. Treasurer, I outreached to people in organizations that did not want to associate with Mr. Martinez or that had a negative view of Mr. Martinez Thats how we built  the March . I coined the name of Cesar Chavez March for Justice. Jaime reminded me that Ceasr had a middle name Estrada. I begin to disappear under or behind Jaime Martinez and every time that I spoke during our organizing meetings it seemed to be threatening to Jaime which I could not understand since we were together as co-founders. I t seemed that Jaime needed to be infront of the cameras but during the early years we received very little mainstream media coverage, we would say it was because of who Ceasr was thats to say his anti-corporate image. I had  and still have a television program on cale access that I devoted to promoting the Ceaar E. Chavez March for Justice. Jaime loved coming on my program to promote the
> Commemorating events. I gave him those opprtunitiesbeleiving we were together . I could just as easily done the programs by myself, but I respected Jaimes time as a Labor Organizer and treated him with that respect.I still took on social issues on by myself as I saw fit but that seemed to bother Jaime even more than my speeches during the organizing mee4tings. The effort to bring attention the private prison of T.D.Hutto run by C.C.A. in Taylor TX. that houses families with children  that seek refugee status or asylum in the U.S.  Is the issue that brought my leadership of a cause to become  a rift that has not been bridged., Information was brought to my attention that LULAC was receiving funds from CCA. Mr. Jaime Martinez is National Treasurer. I asked Mr. J. Martinez to return the money and to denounce LuLACs connection to CCA. As he told me that that was the knife that I had cut him with. I made the information pulic and a storm brewed for a
> short time . Heads rowed and mine seems to be one , but I would do it again. To take money fro that evil empire and than to say that you advocate for the children that that Corporation exploits by imprisonment is two faced. Therer are other issues that have emerged since 2007. The street renaming effort that Jaime sold out from under the peoples signature pettion. When we are truly honest with ourselves we must confess that all we have that belongs to us is our lives and our Palabra .
