Thanks for the e-contact Pedro...
The goal of the vigil is to reignite serious media coverage...especially under a new president and secretary of DHS. Anyone who wants to stand on the same ground with us to free the children are welcome. If I have issues with them on different issues...I'll deal with those issues on another day. It cannot be bad if we can be united on something as basic as freeing innocent children.
While I would hope that LULAC would support this, this of course is not about LULAC. Jose Orta, who has been one of the stalwart local voices, is the local LULAC chair. Maybe LULAC the organization, has problems, but it's not my style to look at the individual members as corrupted. That would be like condemning all Republicans for Cheney's use of torture. Nonetheless, as always, I respect your decision, but would encourage you to be above avoiding an organized plea to free the children.
I've seen the YouTube video several times. Did you put it together? It's very good.
Have a great day...
Jay

Jay, I read your email and I commend you for taking action. It might not be like 2 years ago in which it was called Protestpalooza by the San Antonio Current Newspaper. It is 2009 and it has lost its momentum. You still will get a crowd but it takes great organizing to pull off big events, maybe a Lulac bus full of participants like in 2007. I am against anything that Lulac does to free the children because I have seen beyond their true agenda. If Lulac supports your event on June 20th 2009, I can only give you support from my parade chair as I wave bye. May you be blessed with pulling off that event on June 20th. May Peace be with you Jay Castro. I support to Free the Children, not to make it into a Holiday Inn Express. By the way, I forwarded your email to my listserve hopefully people will go to the June 20th event. I will try to make it this Saturday to Taylor, Texas. Sincerely, Pedro Ruiz http://www.youtube.com/pedroruiz21
