Closure of T. Don Hutto by end of 2009

In reading of the New York Times, and article by Nina Bernstein published on August 6, 2009, titled " U.S. to reform Policy on Detention for Immigrants, " it talks about reconstructing immigration detention policies such as those inside the T. Don Hutto Residential Center where children are incarcerated. As we received the welcoming news, many activists started to send emails with Victory speeches about their accomplishments as activists. To me, it is no victory since Lulac has been working with educational programs inside detention centers since 2001 and playing the pinche game that they have been leading this movement to free the children. It is due to Lulac's pre-existing relationship that Rosa Rosales receives free tours inside the T. Don Hutto Residential Center because they have been cashing big checks from Corrections Corporation of America. Join us on August 22, 2009, to help close the detention center in Taylor, Texas.
